Colors play a significant role in our lives and have a great impact on our minds and senses. Color therapy is an effective way to raise our vibrational energy.

Ancient yogis in the east believed that the chakras are a part of a spiritual or ethereal body that forms a layer enclosing the physical body.

What happens within this ethereal body has a major effect on your mind and body. Since the ethereal body is not made up of matter (it’s neither a wave nor a particle), there’s no way to detect its presence using modern scientific instruments.

The word chakra means ‘wheel’ in Sanskrit. In ancient eastern yogic traditions, it is believed that there are seven chakras, or energy points of the spiritual body, that help in channeling the flow of vital energy, also known as the prana.

When this energy flowing in and out of a chakra is optimal, it is said to be fully balanced, and that, in turn, relates to aspects of our physical and mental well-being.

Imbalanced chakras are said to be associated with a wide range of problems such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, lack of confidence, inability to take action, codependency, inability to express yourself freely, inability to regulate your feelings and emotions, physical ailments like lower back pain, constipation, headaches, kidney and bladder problems, and much more.

Each chakra has its own color representing a particular vibration and an element that is symbolic of what the chakra is and what it does. The seven chakras are as follows:

Root Chakra (Muladhara)

Root (Muladhara) Chakra
Root (Muladhara) Chakra

Is the very first chakra of the spiritual body that is associated with vitality, stability, security, material needs such as food, shelter, and water, and general physical well-being. It has a red color and the element is earth.

The red color of the root chakra is said to be very grounding and indicates passion, desire, strength, courage, change, and willpower. Opening up the root chakra helps in feeling grounded (centered, safe and secure) and establishes a strong connection with our mother earth.

Imbalance of energy within this chakra can lead to problems such as:

  • Fear and insecurity
  • Codependency
  • Lack of focus
  • Depression
  • Dysfunctional relationships and trust issues with people
  • Inability to take action

The root chakra is the resting place of vital energy. The energy at this location (around the region of the anus) is said to be coiled up like a snake three and half times. When we open our root chakra, the energy moves up, simulating the higher chakras.

Final Thought

Science has done amazing things for us, but the one area where science needs to work more is mental health. Today science is able to diagnose mental disorders very efficiently, but when it comes to the cure, we are limited to the intake of prescription medicines, which doesn’t work very well for most people.

We don’t get to know the exact cause of mental problems unless we go inwards and explore our minds. This is where practices like yoga and meditation can help. Meditation allows us to go deep within our minds and explore the real cause of the suffering.

Recent scientific studies show that the human body is made up of both visible and invisible parts, where the visible part forms the material body, and the invisible part from the energetic body, and that the matter and energy can be converted into each other.

It is important to note that people have been practicing chakra healing for thousands of years and many have benefited from it. Even in the western world, we see a lot of people believing in and practicing kundalini yoga.

Chakra activation is a very blissful experience, and I personally believe that every one of us must strive to experience this. By raising our vibration, we attract like-minded people and manifest our dreams and desires.

However, I strictly advise that you must acquire complete knowledge before attempting this on your own. It is always better to follow the advice of a realized master.

Take care and have a nice day.
